چکیده

Introduction: Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is a disease in which hemoglobin S exists homozygous state, with prominent clinical features and wide range of phenotypes. This study aimed to determine the levels E-selectin how it correlated severity sickle patients.
Methodology: was comparative cross-sectional study. Socio-demographic characteristics, full blood count, body mass index serum patients (HbSS) steady state as well age sex-matched controls HbAA HbAS phenotype were obtained.
Results: Ninety individuals participated made up 30 HbSS, subjects 10 50 years mean 27.3 ±6 years, 27.1 ±6years 26 ± 6 respectively. Mean level HbSS 434.3 ±306ng/l significantly higher than those value 203.4 ±120ng/l 238.9 ±171ng/l respectively (p<0.05). There positive correlation between among although not significant statistically
Conclusion: when compared control group (HbAA HbAS). However, did reach statistical significance. Further studies should be carried out on wider scale actual effect E-Selectin biomarker for early detection HbSS.
